Thank you for attending our Magnificent May Dinner! We are very grateful for your support and friendship as we work together toward a world free of plastic pollution. Learn how you can make a difference by supporting Plastic Pollution Coalition projects:
The Last Plastic Straw, a PPC project, has worked with more than 2,000 restaurants across the globe to change their plastic straw protocol and stop serving plastic straws. The Last Plastic Straw advises communities on policy change, shares plastic straw specific tools and messaging with 100+ recent plastic straw campaigns worldwide, and educates the masses about the absurdity of single-use plastic.
PPC was a co-investigator on Rethink Plastic, a ground-breaking pilot study funded by the The California Breast Cancer Research fund in collaboration with Child Health and Development Studies (CHDS). Conducted in the San Francisco Bay Area, the study demonstrated that changing individual’s behavior reduced exposures to the harmful chemicals in plastic which mimic estrogen.
PPC’s Refill Revolution, our pilot program at Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival has diverted more than 2 million cups and bottles from landfill in the past 4 years of the program.
PPC published the Healthy Baby Guide with Made Safe.
PPC published the Better Alternatives Now (BAN) List 2.0, with nine other leading nonprofit organizations, a series of reports that identify the world’s most dangerous plastics in order to better protect our oceans and environment.
PPC advised Orb Media on groundbreaking new research on microplastics in tap and bottled water.
PPC presented at dozens of major international conferences including the International Marine Debris Conference and the UN Environment Assembly.
PPC has developed a leading White Paper on a new measurement tool for plastic on sustainability reporting.
Watch the video sent by Youth Ambassadors Abi Subramanian and Octavia "Shay" Barton from PPC member organization Heirs To Our Oceans for the event.
Our sincere thanks to the Black Family, the Annenberg Family Foundation, Jill Janger, Jim and Judy O’Brien, and the Gretchen and Randy Newman Family, for making the event possible. Our deepest gratitude to Jeff Bridges who made the drawings etched on the limited edition reusable tumblers, which were generously donated by Steely’s and S’Well. Thanks also to Eco-Bags and National Geographic for completing the gift bags, CJ Matsumoto & Sons for the beautiful flowers, and Skywater for providing our evening’s drinking water through their air-to-water technology that makes water by condensing and purifying water vapor in the air.
We thank you for your support.
