Join Save Forest Lake at a rally at the New Hampshire State Capitol on Thursday, September 15, from 11 am-1 pm as they will be urging the NH House and Senate members to overturn the governor’s veto of bi-partisan House Bill 1454 (HB1454) which was passed in both the House and Senate. HB1454 protects NH bodies of water from future, poorly-sited landfill developments by strengthening the setback requirements, based on the site hydrogeology and the speed of groundwater. The current setback for siting such dangerous industry is only 200 feet, less than a football field! Landfills eventually leak, and with the proliferation of PFAS contaminants, it is crucial that more laws are enacted stronger protections for bodies of water in New Hampshire (and throughout the world!). At the rally, look for the Save Forest Lake team, who will be wearing blue clothing to represent clean water!
