Redesigning the Fashion Industry: How to Transition to Sustainable Fashion

February 28, 2023 , 12:00 pm 1:30 pm EDT

The fashion industry accounts for more than 10% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions and contributes to approximately 30% of the microplastics that fill our rivers and oceans each year. Furthermore, because of the lack of transparency in supply chains coupled with challenges with the traceability of work processes and raw materials, the industry is rampant with instances of child labor, unsafe working conditions, and unfair wages.

Sustainable fashion is an all-inclusive term describing products, processes, activities, and actors (policymakers, brands, consumers) aiming to achieve a carbon-neutral fashion industry, built on equality, social justice, animal welfare, and ecological integrity.

Join the Women Impact Investing Network community in conversation with Marije de Roos, CEO and Founder of Positive Fibers, and Stephanie Joy Benedetto, CEO and Co-Founder of Queen of Raw, and moderator Sarah Ebrahimi, Head of Institutional Partnerships and Personal Lines, on Tuesday February 28th at 12pm EST. Panelists will explore how the impact investing community is driving forward the sustainable fashion movement and how we, as consumers of fashion, can make more ethical and ecologically just choices.
