A 2-day event in the nation’s capital – one day of speakers, panel discussions, and networking opportunities followed by a day of lobbying
While capitalism remains a dynamic force, challenges such as income inequality, crumbling infrastructure, market consolidation, climate change, underinvestment, and the over financialization of America’s economy pose serious threats to America’s continued global leadership and domestic stability. The American Sustainable Business Network (ASBN) is leading the business transition from prioritizing shareholders to stakeholders, with a focus on corporate culture, fair compensation, equitable ownership, disclosure, and the careful measurement of business impacts. We need transformative public policy as well as bottom-up organizational changes based on serving the needs of all stakeholders. Such is our task and challenge.
ASBN is convening a Policy Summit in Washington D.C. that will feature a full day of conference programming on topical policy issues. ASBN members will also be able to participate in a day of lobbying on Capitol Hill. We will bring together stakeholders from across our network to continue important conversations outlined in our newly revised report, Creating an Economic System that Works for All (to be released for the conference). Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with the Biden Administration leaders, network with fellow leaders in business and regenerative capital, and discuss important policy messages at a key moment on Capitol Hill.
Held in the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library, in Washington, D.C., 901 G Street Northwest Washington, DC 20001
Ticket prices: $145-$2,795

With momentum surging in state legislatures to tackle the growing waste crisis, we face a pivotal opportunity to catalyze the new reuse economy. Join Upstream and friends for our first livestream of 2023 as we explore how best to incorporate waste prevention and reuse into one of the most popular waste policies — Extended Producer Responsibility. Strong EPR policies should support a just transition to a circular economy that prioritizes reuse.
Upstream’s Policy Director, Sydney Harris, will provide an overview of our new Principles for Reuse/Refill in EPR and DRS and host a conversation with special guest panelists who craft and support EPR legislation – including Jennifer Navarra, Program Director for Zero Waste Hawaiʻi Island; Will Grassle, Associate for Policy & Programs at the Product Stewardship Institute; McKenna Morrigan, Policy Advisor at Seattle Public Utilities; and David Allaway, Senior Policy Analyst at the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality’s Materials Management Program.
